Introducing

Kami Hensel is a German-born, Berlin-based artist and designer. His work sits between fine art and urban pop culture, influenced by good luck symbolism and nostalgic memories.

Who is You Know Me Well?

While writing graffiti and DJing all around Germany, Switzerland and Austria in the 90s, Kami follows the call to help open a Hip-Hop club in Shanghai, China in the early 2000s. Initially, to support music programming and talent booking, he became the club's bespoke Art Director thanks to a bootlegged Photoshop copy from a street vendor around the block.

Continuing to develop his signature collage style, significantly influenced by his travels all over Asia, the DJ's design talent was soon enlisted to create artworks, branding, and visuals for other artists and DJs, clubs, and festivals around the globe before he decided to focus solely on design.

Kami's reflection of his world is created with a wide mix of tools ranging from digital, spray-paint, ink, and oil. Blurry neon-made punchlines, sitting on playgrounds of nostalgic memories. Often a homage to faraway Asian Good Luck symbolism and the Boogie Down Bronx.
